JS Launch Live Steam Humidifier

JS Launch Live Steam Humidifier JS Humidifiers is launching the Armstrong Live Steam humidifier. It is an extremely high specification unit offered at a very competitive price. Features include a high running pressure of up to 4 bar, massive output capacity two to three times competitors’ models, lower installation costs and very quiet, super-dry steam delivery.

Live steam humidifiers are ideal for situations where there is an existing supply of steam like hospitals and laboratories, as they remove the expense of generating steam to humidify using electrode or resistive boiler type humidifiers. Also, unlike steam-to-steam humidifiers, live steam systems offer very fast response to humidification requirements and need minimal maintenance.

The Armstrong live steam humidifier is capable of running at pressures up to 4 bar producing hotter, drier steam than other 2 bar systems. This high pressure gives the Armstrong a huge output capacity of up to 1,823kg/h from a single unit, which is two to three times that of competitive units.

By running at a higher pressure than other systems, the size of pipework and pressure reducing valve required to install the humidifier is much smaller making it a cheaper system to set-up.

As well as operating at a high pressure and temperature to provide super-heated dry steam, the Armstrong incorporates many features to ensure all condensation is eliminated from the steam before being released into the duct. When the steam is fed into the humidifier it enters a separation chamber, which incorporates baffles to slow and reverse the direction of steam to remove condensation. The control valve is incorporated within this separation chamber in order to maintain its temperature and avoid condensation build-up through the valve. A temperature switch is incorporated as standard that only allows the control valve to open once a set temperature is reached, removing the possibility of sub-temperature steam being released into the duct.

Lastly the steam lance situated in the duct is fully jacketed with a super-heated casing to ensure the temperature of the steam isn’t reduced by the flow of air in the AHU prior to its release.

Even though the system runs at a high pressure a silencer within the unit’s drying chamber makes the Armstrong quieter than other 2 bar humidifiers.

The control provided is ±1%RH and the Armstrong is also very responsive with a turndown ration of 123:1. The actuator which opens and closes the control valve is pre-stroked to make installation and commissioning easier. Also, unlike many other live steam humidifiers, the control valve itself opens against the pressure of the steam eliminating any leakage through the system.

The standard model has a cast iron body with stainless steel steam lance. For critical applications a fully stainless steel model is available. JS Humidifiers can also offer a direct-air model with a maximum output capacity of 130kg/h, which is wall mounted and has a fan to disperse the steam into an atmosphere.

JS Humidifiers is the UK’s largest humidification company with the widest range of products and offers a service of advice, design, supply, installation and maintenance. It also offers a comprehensive range of humidifier spares, not only for JS equipment but also for a large range of different manufacturers’ humidifiers, mostly available ex-stock.
